“There Was No Imminent Threat to the United States by the Iranians”

Mark Warner serves as a leading member of the Senate Intelligence Committee, making him one of Washington’s most knowledgeable figures on why the U.S. started a war with Iran. The reason, he says, is mind-boggling.

“There was no imminent threat to the United States of America by the Iranians,” the senator told reporters on Monday. “There was a threat to Israel. If you equate a threat to Israel as the equivalent of an imminent threat to the United States, then we are in uncharted territory.”

A few days ago, suggesting the U.S. was fighting Israel’s battle for them would have prompted mindless antisemitism allegations. Now, everyone knows that’s exactly what’s happening. Those who support going to war in the name of a foreign country must at least acknowledge that we are far off the path of America First. This is nothing close to what voters wanted.
