Senate Moves Toward Locking Fauci Up
The Senate Homeland Security Committee voted on Thursday to refer Anthony Fauci for prosecution for contempt of Congress. The move came one week after he infamously invoked the Fifth Amendment 111 times during his Senate “testimony.” In case you missed it, he even pleaded the Fifth when Josh Hawley asked him what color his tie was.
The referral authorizes JD Vance to certify the committee’s report to the Justice Department, which said it is already weighing how to proceed. If convicted of a misdemeanor contempt charge, Fauci could face up to one year in prison and a $1,000 fine. He looked very upset as he took out his trash yesterday, photos taken by the New York Post show.
Joe Biden ended his presidency with a whimper by pardoning Fauci during his final day in the White House. That said, federal law enforcement is still allowed to hold the former NIAID director accountable for possible crimes he commits or has committed since receiving the autopen pardon.
